NATURE OF WORK

The City of Brainerd is seeking two temporary seasonal Engineering Interns. This position assists with construction project surveys and staking, inspections, quantities and material control, and miscellaneous projects such as pavement condition ratings and sidewalk ADA compliance and Transition Plan data collection.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Project survey and construction staking
  • Construction inspections with quantities and material control
  • Pavement condition rating, sidewalk ADA compliance, or similar as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid MN driver’s license and physical ability to perform survey related tasks is required

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desired qualifications include Civil Engineering Technology or Pre-engineering courses
  • Experience using GPS and total station equipment
  • Understanding of land survey principles and techniques
  • Preference will be given to those who qualify for the Sourcewell Internship Program

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT*: Salary is $18 – $20 per hour DOQ. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week (no overtime) from May/June – August. As a temporary position, this is a non-benefit earning position.
