Supportive Partnerships for Youth (SPY) is an academic and social enrichment camp program for elementary-aged children in the Carlisle and Newville areas. Our mission is to help these children grow socially, emotionally and academically over the summer months.
SPY serves approximately 150 at-risk children over the summer that are referred to our program by their elementary school counselors. All of our campers come from low income homes so there are no fees to attend the camp. There are two separate camp experiences. One operates Monday-Friday 8am-3:30pm and is for children entering 1st-4th grades. The second is Monday-Wednesday 8am-3:30pm and is for children entering 5th-6th grades. Our daily schedule is composed of academic stations, creative expression, physical activity, trips to the pool and fun, enhancing excursions. We also serve breakfast and lunch and an afternoon snack.
We are looking for college students interested in a future in education, child development or child psychology to help run activities and be positive role models to the children.
